We are thrilled to bring you the second edition of author dinners for our Spring Book Series by Mike, an exclusive program of bespoke dining experiences and conversations at No.1 Bent Street. From old style barbeque to household favourites, Mike takes on some of Australia’s biggest food authors’ recipes, while Barbara Sweeney from Food & Words leads them in conversation.

September 5 | Jess Pryles

Take your barbeque game to the next level and learn meat mastery with Australian-born, Texan-by-choice grill guru, Jess Pryles, in Australia to launch her new cook book Hard Core Carnivore. Mike cooks a menu from the book – sizzling, smokey meat and all-American sides, while Barbara and Jess will chew the fat on all things meat: from cuts & shortcuts, smoke and fire to tools and techniques. You’ll go home armed with all the tips you’ll need to be a winner on the barbecue.

Chef & owner of Melbourne eatery Pope Joan, Matt Wilkinson and his wife Sharlee Gibb, visit Sydney for an exclusive dinner of household favourites from their cook book Mr and Mrs Wilkinson’s How It Is At Home. Expect a nourishing, comforting and inspirational menu of Matt and Sharlee’s recipes, cooked by Mike, and a fun-filled conversation with Matt, Sharlee and Barbara as they cover the best of home cooking His and Her style.
